Now That's a Box of Crayons...

Here is another interesting tidbit of information; this about something in computer lingo... pixels. I read somewhere that pixels are square in computers and rectangular in video which for whatever odd reason , I thought was interesting. I think it's interesting that the words “picture” and “element” are combined to make the word and concept, “pixel.”

A pixel is a tiny dot of light, a unit of measurement used when talking about the size of an image on your screen, TV or Computer. A pixel is basically the smallest measure of a digitized or Digital Image. The number of pixels describes the measurement of image size and resolution. Sometimes they are measured PPI... that is pixels per inch.

But wait, there's more...
If you have a 24 bit display, each pixel can display over sixteen million colors.
(and I thought 64 Crayola crayons in a rectangular box was pretty cool when I was a kid!)

Pixels are comprised of even smaller elements...each pixels has three dots in it, a red a blue and a green, which converge at the same point.

To see human pixels preform, see Samsung's July 2007 Human Pixel performance in Korea on You Tube. www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9Jo0BRdbO4

There are other human pixel performances to view on You Tube. This one, a Ukranian TV ad is quite interesting:

FYI...
Human pixeling is not new. Though captured, not in color, but in black and white, consider the work of Arthur Mole by visiting this site of interest:
