God Bless the World

These are lyrics to a real song. God Bless the World While You Bless America is actually a “Peace Song” by Greg Jones, who believes he is on a “musical mission of Peace ” in the world.

Jones says that the response to his peace song has been “incredible,” and he is happy that stores and web giants like Amazon, AOL, Target Music, Best Buy and others are carrying his merchandise.

Jones, who had his guitar in his hand at the time, was watching something about the war on television one day, and the message of the song just came to him....

“It just hit me...” he said, “We shouldn't just say 'God Bless America' ...but 'God Bless the World.'"He says that after he wrote the song he remembered when the inspiration first came from, it was September 11, 2001.

Jones, like many others, took the whole incident of the terrorists bombing in New York deeply to heart and for days after it happened he felt glued to his TV. He says that he was very concerned, concerned for his country, concerned for his family, and particularly concerned for his son-in-law- who served in the military overseas. Jones says that at that time he witnessed on his television, not only the evils of terrorism but also what he called, “the greatest show of American patriotism and togetherness” that he had ever seen.

Truly, it was a memorable sight to see so many American flags displayed throughout the USA and the words, “God Bless America” donning the signs of businesses everywhere. People were united. There was a great show of solidarity, disdain for evil terrorism, care for other human beings and a great show of faith in God. Jones, like many Americans was impressed but over time, he says he began to wonder, “Are we asking God to bless just America?"

"Can't be."

" Who do we think WE are?"

" Do we really think that God created people all over the world, but he only desires to bless us!?"

"Are we nuts?”

Then he wrote the song that he claims is now considered the New Anthem for World Peace.

Jones is one of many artists getting on the peace train, selling songs with peaceful sentiments for the hurting world. Even the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, (UNESCO,) has what they call a "New Songs for Peace" project, intended to encourage people to think about peace, talk about peace, and write songs about peace, but it's nothing NEW. After all, like Jones’ peace song, Irving Berlin’s song, our United State’s unofficial national anthem, God Bless America is a "Peace song", written in it’s final form for Armistice Day, 1938, so long ago that few people know what armistice means anymore.

“Armistice” is derived from the Latin ‘arma,’ meaning weapons or arms, and ‘stitium,’ meaning a stopping, as in ‘end of war. ’

The first Armistice Day was celebrated at eleven o’clock in the morning on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, (November 11,) 1918 and Armistice Day was not just an American holiday. It was celebrated by many nations who had been involved in the war.

Irving Berlin, a Jewish man, living the Christianized nation of the United States of America, wrote this song/prayer thanking God for preserving America’s ways and freedoms and for His guidance through the difficult times of war and strife. He wasn't telling God what to do. Asa an American citizen he understood that God had blessed the USA with freedom... both individual and national sovereignty. He knew the God of the Bible was the God America professed to believe in and as a Jewish man he knew Psalm 33:23 that says, “Blessed in the nation whose God is the Lord.”
