Indonesian Earthquake

The University of Singapore reports that the Indonesian Earthquake that occurred off the coast of northern Sumatra on December 26, 2004, registering 9.0 was “the fourth largest quake in the world since 1900.” The tsunami that followed is believed by some estimates, to have killed over 174,000 people.
