The Peace Palace in this story is complete fiction, but the concept comes from the fact that there are so many “Peace Palaces” in the world today.
Powerful American industrialist Andrew Carnegie, who in his day was considered to be “the richest man in the world,” financed what is called “the International Peace Palace” in the year 1904. It was established in the Netherlands in an effort to help keep peace between European countries that might go to war. Carnegie also felt a need for the world to have an establishment of a governing body to formulate International Law, one that would help to settle disputes and serve as an arbitrator for the common good of all. Thus, the International Peace Palace was born.
The Carnegie Foundation currently manages the Peace Palace grounds, which houses the Peace Palace Library and The Hague Academy of International Law. It serves now as the headquarters for an International Court of Justice, (also called the World Court) that operates under the United Nations. (UN)
Another Peace Palace is the Peace Palace established by the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi of Beatles fame, and it is located in Vedic City, Iowa, USA. The city he inhabits and sort of "rules" over, was incorporated on July 21, 2001, and it was promoted locally and internationally as “model of an ideal city life.”
The city, Vedic City , Iowa, complete with palace and palace grounds is considered to be the “capital city of the Global Country of World Peace,”(wherever that is,) and the plan is to build similar “peace palaces” in every major city possible throughout the world. Underway is also the creation of what the creators of these Peace Palaces call the US Peace Government, with Meru, Holland, the Global Capital of the Global Country of World Peace.
The phenomena of Maharishi Peace Palaces, or any other spiritual center like it that is used for Transcendental Meditation, (TM) give people the opportunity, (for a fee) to study Maharishi Vedic Science TM programs and be qualified to become Peace-Creating Experts and help “generate an influence of peace for the community and the world.” The Mayor of Vedic City Iowa, Robert G. (Bob) Wayne says, “Come visit Maharishi Vedic City and see for yourself the total potential of life that is available for you, your family, your city, and your nation.” There is even a move to put Maharishi Peace Palaces in Israel.
The Jerusalem Post ran an article by Talya Halkin on Feb 14, 2006, saying that an organization, called "A Rule of Order, Strength and Peace: The Actualization of the Universe's Constitution in Israel's National Life" had held a press conference in Tel Aviv. The conference, headed by Dr. Alex Kutai, representative for Maharishi Mahesh, told the press that he wants to “appeal to the leaders of the country's political parties to adopt their
(the Maharishs and friends') vision for a successful government.”
Fortunately, God already has a plan in place and it is one of order strength and peace. He probably does not need much, if any, help from the Maharishi. The reason we know God has a plan is because he told us event ahead of time and then he simply worked them all out to their fruition and wouldn;t you knowit... God’s plan is pivotal on Israel?
Between the years of 70 AD when the last temple was destroyed, until 1948. Israel and did not exist on any map as a nation. The Jewish people were dispersed throughout the world enduring great persecution and change for nearly 2000 years. After the Balfour Declaration and with the Mandate of the League of Nations as precedent, Jewish refugees who were previously dispersed throughout the entire world, who had been living in other nations began a slow filtering into their true homeland, Israel.
Large numbers of Jews immigrated and purchased land from landowners there intending to become self-reliant through agriculture. As the Jewish people moved back in and bought land from wealthy landowners, this displaced the renters. Then November 29, 1947, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution calling for the establishment of a Jewish State. Miraculously, through all of this they have retained their culture and language and wached the hand of God re-gather them in the land where Jesus was born. This is mazing. In 1948, Isreal emerged once again as a nation. The desert blooms.
The land of ancient Israel had long been ruled by the Ottoman Empire, but being a desert region it was considered a wasteland, except to those Christians Jews and Moslems who considered it “holy.” It has some strategic value as well because throughout ancient history Israel was a corridor of travel between Europe, Asia, and Africa.
After 1869, when the Suez Canal was built to connect the Mediterranean Sea with the Red Sea, the land was even more important for it provided the shortest route from the Meditereanean Sea to the Indian Ocean. But Egypt sold the canal operating company to the British. In 1948 the United Nations partitioned the British held Ottoman territory into two states, Israel and Palestine in an attempt to solve disputes over the land but when the newly regathered Israel declared itself an independent nation, in less than 24 hours Arab forces, made up of armies from Egypt, Transjordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq as well as Palestinian guerrillas, invaded, intending to stop the process from going any further.
The invading countries expected an easy victory, after all, who was Israel but a small and isolated, newly formed Jewish State. To the surprise of the entire watching world, Israel won the war and emerged not only victorious, but had increased the land under its control far beyond what it had been given. The Arab world was demoralized that they had been defeated, and has ever-since vowed to push Israel into the sea, but then, there has always been tension between Arabs and Jews ever since Abraham walked the earth. Since Israel became a nation again, there have been conflicts between Palestinians and Israelis, culminating in terrorist attacks, war threats and outbursts of violence in the streets. It was as if Israel became a cup of trembling to the world. (Zechariah 12)
The Arabic world didn't like what was happening, but they marveled at it like everyone else. If it had been a sporting event, spectators would have stood back and said, " Wow, what a comeback for the Jews!"
It was a comeback, but Egypt and Syria were not cheering; they, like Iraq, refused to acknowledge Israel as a nation. Iraqi leaders made open threats of wiping the country of Israel off of the map and some people refused to even put Israel on a map at all. Even Jordan and Egypt signed a military agreement between themselves to stand in opposition to Israel. Meanwhile, Israel prepared militarily to defend itself from its enemies in the region.
Then, on May 22, 1967, Egypt tried to cut off trade coming into Israel from Asia and Iran, by closing their water supply, the Suez Canal. Israel, surrounded by hostilities felt compelled to launch a preemptive strike, and on June 5, 1967, they did just that. It was the beginning of what is historically known as the Six-Day War. In only six days, Israel gained the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza Strip from Egypt, the West Bank and Eastern Jerusalem from Jordan, and the Golan Heights form Syria.
Ezekiel 34: 12-15, 28 reads: "As the shepherd seeks out his flock on the day that he is among his scattered sheep, so will I seek out My sheep and deliver them from all the places where they were scattered. And I will bring them out from the peoples and gather them from the countries and will bring them to their own land. I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the valleys and all the inhabited places of the country. And they shall no longer be a prey to the nations. Nor shall other lands devour them. But they shall dwell safely and no one shall make them afraid."
Yes, the God of Israel has a plan for his people and it's a plan of justice, righteousness, mercy and of peace. He has told us what is right and what the Lord requires. He has a plan, and he will see it to the ery end.
