The Wheel in the Sky Keeps on Turning


This is interesting....


This chronometer stands in Heroes Square, City Park, Budapest Hungary. It’s a landmark commemorating the admission of Hungary to the European Union and it's really really big. It stands eight meters high. (I like this photo because you can see how tall in is next to the people in the photograph.)

Designed by Istvan Janaki, and erected in 2004, this 60-ton hourglass-like timepiece is specially designed to flow the sands of time’s passing for exactly one year, it's designed so that the last grains of sand flows out exactly at midnight. Not sure if that happens "on time," but that's the design. It has to be turned over by shear brute force to begin keeping time another year.
