SOS is the internationally recognized Morse code signal for distress. It means Save Our Ship, or, in other words, "the ship is sinking and immediate help is necessary." It could of course, also stand for Save Our Souls.
Do souls need saving?
The famous Christian man, D.L. Moody is known for having focused his ministry on "saving souls."One of his most famous remarks was, "I look upon this world as a wrecked vessel. God has given me a lifeboat and said to me, ‘Moody, save all you can.’" Moody listened and moved into action, he founded the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.
That was 1886. He died in 1899, but over 100 years later (and several CEOs,) and you will still see the name, Moody Bible Institute.
