Gong Show

The Gong Show was a televised game show where people would get on stage and do totally unpredictable, sometimes outrageously inane things. Celebrities on a panel, would watch the people perform songs, stunts or tricks and judge their acts. If they were amused, they would tolerate the act, if they were bored, sickened or if they hated what the contestant was doing, then they would pick up a huge baton and hit an enormous brass gong and oust the contestant from the stage before the act was finished.

If the contestant didn’t get “gonged” they would be awarded a number score from each celebrity judge. Then at the end of the show, after several contestants performed, the act with the highest score would be declared the winner.
